After only 2 days on the Mosel, I can tell you that this is definitely a bicycling itinerary that you need to put at the top of your cycle paths to-do list! Â I have bicycled the vineyards of Burgundy and Languedoc, the Medoc, around Saint Emilion and Chateauneuf du Pape, but I have never experienced an area so completely dominated by vines. Â And never have I seen so many vines planted on a vertical comparable to a double black diamond ski slope!
There are villages located every 10 km or less so there is always a place to get a bite to eat.  Finding a plce to buy water may be a bit more complicated, but you can always buy a glass of local wine!  There are many, many deviations from the main Mosel cycling path, further complicating the decisions that you will have to make along the way.  Such a lovely problem for a bicyclist to have!  Much of what you see along the Mosel is so hard to describe, so rather than trying, I’ll just include some of my favorite photos from the first 2 days of bicycling along the Mosel.

Before long, the Mosel vineyards start to appear.

The sights along the Mosel have been nothing less than spectacular. Â Experiencing them by bike is the perfect adventure. Â To spend several days immersed in the landscape of this region has definitely been an experience of a lifetime!
