Cycling Brittany’s Ille-et-Rance Canal

I had a last minute opportunity to travel to France to visit some bike routes in Brittany and Burgundy, so I have lots of information and stories to share. Brittany, an area that I have never bicycled before was fantastic. We cycled over 150 km on and around the Ille-et-Rance canal from Rennes to St. Malo. The route along the canal is a voie verte for over 80 km and veloroute for the rest of the way. The scenery was spectacular, food lovely and the weather even better, warmer than during my summer trip!

Tomorrow I am off for a weekend of cycling along the Burgundy Canal from Montbard to Dijon. There have been improvements to the route so I am excited to see the changes, and pass the information on to you. Hopefully I will have an Internet connection tomorrow night to start reporting on my adventures!

I love the adventure and unpredictability of experiencing France by bike. Cycling in France is the ultimate slow travel adventure, an opportunity to see it through the back door in a way few tourists experience. One week on a bike in France and life takes on a different meaning! I created Experience France By Bike to inspire recreational cyclists to visit France the slow bike, and to be the best source of information for planning the perfect bicycling adventure. I encourage readers to embrace the uncertainty of the road ahead and to take the path less traveled, exploring roads, towns and villages that you would never experience traveling by car.
