If you are planning a biking trip to the Loire River, here are two publications you need to have. The first is “La Loire a Velo”, an information-packed foldout map featuring the Loire bicycle route from Nantes on the Atlantic to Nevers in the heart of Burgundy. Although this map is available as a download online, it’s size makes it difficult to read. A simple e-mail will get you a copy via regular mail. French tourism marketing officials are really on the ball as this brochure is so packed with useful information, it makes trip planning easy. This map is available at www.cycling-loire.com. Go to the tab “Useful information”, and then click on “Download the Brochures”. In addition to this particular brochure, this website is full of great information for planning your Loire bicycling adventure!
Another indispensable Loire bicycle trip planning tool is “Les Chateau a Velo” featuring 13 different itineraries around Blois, Chambord and Cheverny. Over 400 kilometers of well-marked trails are included along with lodging and bike rental information. The map is so perfect one could easily plan a week or weekend Loire bicycle trip from it. A number of the itineraries are well- suited for families. This brochure is also available as a download online, but due to it’s size is quite unreadable. Request a copy for free at www.bloispaysdechambord.com. This web site is also a great information source for Loire bicycle trip planning.
